Lithuanian Business Associations: Planned Tax Reform Contradicts the Fundamental Goal of the State

 

The leaders of associations uniting Lithuanian and foreign capital companies operating in the country have approached the government, calling for immediate discussions with business organizations regarding planned tax changes. Representatives from the Investors’ Forum association, the Unicorns Lithuania association, the Lithuanian Employers’ Confederation, the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, and the Lithuanian Business Confederation note that national security is the highest priority and that increasing funding for the country’s defense is necessary.

Vytautas Šilinskas joins the management of the ‘Investors’ Forum’ association

Vytautas Šilinskas has joined the management team of the Investors’ Forum, an association uniting the largest and most active investors in Lithuania’s economy. V. Šilinskas, a lawyer and labor law specialist, and a former Minister of Social Security and Labor, has taken on the role of Head of Policy and Corporate Affairs at the association. This May, he will become the Executive Director of the Investors’ Forum. V. Šilinskas will take over the position from Rūta Skyrienė, who has led the association since 2003.

Compared to previous years, investors are much more positive about the country’s business environment. The growing gap between labor costs and productivity is seen as the biggest challenge by business representatives, while political changes and economic tensions are also a concern for the respondents.
