Investors’ Forum News

The Eurofi 2013 Financial Forum will take place  September 12-13^th in Vilnius, Lithuania. This unique event is being organised on the occasion of Lithuanian EU Presidency and is aimed at discussing EU finance sector issues. The forum is expected to attract more than 600 participants: decision makers and financial experts, as well as representatives of the public sector, central and commercial banks, and business associations. Investors’ Forum is a regional partner of the Eurofi 2013 Financial Forum and contributes to organising the event.

The association of Investors’ Forum that is working towards creating a better business environment in Lithuanian had its annual meeting on June 11^th. During the meeting, members of the association presented their activities and initiatives of the previous year which were focused towards strengthening Lithuanian economy, promoting business development and investments. In 2012, the association grew further and included 52 member-companies employing more than 26 thousand workers. The annual turnover of member-companies of Investors’ Forum reached more than 6.66 bn. Euros which amounts to approximately to 20.5% of Lithuania’s GDP. What is more, the members of the association contributed almost 4 bn. LT in taxes and social security payments.

The Investors‘ Forum Awards ceremony to congratulate and award the best of nominated “Investor of the Year”, “Best Decision for Business Climate Improvement”, “Responsible Business 2012” and “The Best Business Journalist” will be held on 12th of April in Vilnius.

Members of the association that gather the largest Lithuanian investors, Investors’ Forum participated in the meeting with the new Prime Minister or Lithuania and his advisors in the Kempinksy Cathedral Square Hotel in Vilnius. During the meeting, the investors stressed that the new Government cannot grow tiresome of fighting shadow economy, smuggling and also of attracting foreign direct investments. The investors also reminded of the necessity to regulate labor code, solve “Sodra” problems and carry out tax reforms keeping in mind, that stability is the key aspect that investors and all honorable businesses care about the most.

On October 25th visitors of Baltic Investors Forum will have a chance to witness economic duel of the age. Highly respected economist Dr. Nouriel Roubini, presenting western attitude, will be challenged by the most prominent Japanese economist Richard C. Koo joining the panel for discussion. These two foremost global economy stars along with other experts unexpectedly will meet at a round table discussion about balanced economic policies and secure financial systems. The discussion will be moderated by Vendeline von Bredow,  Deputy Editor of The Economist.
